Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how AillaGrid LLC (“AillaGrid”, “we”, “us”, “our”) handles information in connection with our iOS applications, including Country Survival Kit (the “App”), and the website aillagrid.com (the “Site”).

We’ve kept this policy short and plain because the App genuinely doesn’t collect much. If anything below is unclear, email us at privacy@aillagrid.com and we’ll explain.

Summary

  • The App is offline-first. Almost all content lives on your device.
  • We do not collect your name, email, location, contacts, photos, or any account-based personal data. The App has no user accounts.
  • We do not use third-party advertising, marketing trackers, or analytics SDKs.
  • We rely on Apple’s built-in App Analytics, which is anonymous and aggregated. You can disable it in your device settings.
  • The App makes a small number of network requests to Apple Maps and a public currency-rate service. These are described below.
  • This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and shows no consent banner — because there is nothing to consent to.
  • If you email us, we receive your email address and message so we can reply. That’s described below too.

1. Information we do not collect

We want to be specific because privacy policies often hedge. Country Survival Kit does not:

  • Require an account, login, email address, or password.
  • Collect, store, or transmit your name, address, phone number, or contacts.
  • Track your precise GPS location or store location history.
  • Read, store, or transmit your photos, calendar, or other on-device data.
  • Use third-party advertising networks or marketing trackers (no Facebook SDK, no Google Analytics, no AppsFlyer, no Adjust, etc.).
  • Sell, rent, or share data with data brokers.

2. Information processed when you use the App

The App makes the following network requests during normal use. Each is described with what’s sent, where it goes, and why. We process this information because it is necessary to provide the App features you choose to use (and, for Apple Analytics described in Section 3, on the basis of the choice you make in your device settings).

2.1 Currency exchange rates (Frankfurter.app)

When you use the in-app currency converter, the App requests the latest exchange rates from Frankfurter.app (api.frankfurter.app), a free public service that publishes European Central Bank reference rates.

  • What is sent: the source and target currency codes (e.g. EUR, GBP). No identifiers, no user data.
  • What Frankfurter receives: your device’s IP address as part of any standard internet request, and the currency codes above.
  • Frankfurter’s policy: Frankfurter is operated as a free public API and does not require an API key or account. See https://www.frankfurter.app for details.
  • Caching: the App caches the most recent rate locally so the converter continues to work offline.

2.2 Place search and maps (Apple Maps / MapKit)

When you view the Map section for a country, the App uses MapKit and MKLocalSearch, Apple’s built-in mapping framework, to find points of interest and display the map.

  • What is sent: search terms describing places of interest (e.g. “Senso-ji Temple Tokyo”) and the geographic region of the country being viewed.
  • Where it goes: Apple’s mapping services. This is governed by Apple’s privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.
  • We do not separately collect or store this data ourselves.

2.3 Purchases and subscriptions (Apple StoreKit)

If you buy a subscription, or make a one-time purchase to unlock content, payment is handled entirely by Apple via the App Store. We never see, store, or process your payment card or banking details. Apple provides us with anonymized purchase confirmation so we can grant access to the content you’ve bought.

Apple’s handling of purchase data is governed by their privacy policy.

The App contains links to third-party websites, services, and apps (for example, official government travel pages, weather services, and App Store listings). When you follow a link, you leave the App, and the third party’s own privacy practices apply. We don’t control them and aren’t responsible for them.

3. Apple App Analytics (anonymous)

We use Apple’s built-in App Analytics. This service is operated by Apple and provides aggregated, anonymized usage statistics (such as the number of installs, sessions, crashes, and which countries the App is used in). It does not identify individual users to us.

You can opt out at any time via Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → Share iPhone & Watch Analytics on your iOS device.

We do not use any third-party analytics service, in the App or on this website.

4. Data stored on your device

The App stores the following data locally on your iPhone, never transmitted to us:

  • Your selected home currency.
  • Cached exchange rates for offline use.
  • Cached map place results for the countries you’ve viewed.
  • Your purchase and subscription state, as reported by Apple StoreKit.
  • A small amount of widget data shared between the App and its home-screen widgets via Apple App Group storage (group.com.aillagrid.countrysurvivalkit).

This data is removed when you delete the App.

5. This website

aillagrid.com is a static site, hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, embeds no third-party scripts, and does not track visitors. Our hosting provider processes standard server request logs (including IP addresses) as a normal part of serving the site; we do not use these for tracking or analysis.

6. When you email us

If you contact us at any of our email addresses (privacy@, support@, security@, or hello@aillagrid.com), we receive your email address, anything you choose to include in your message, and your name if your email account shares it. We use this information only to respond to you, to fix problems you report, and to improve the App.

We keep correspondence for as long as reasonably needed for those purposes and then delete it. Emails are stored with our email provider as part of ordinary email service. We don’t add you to any mailing list, and we don’t share your correspondence with anyone else except where the law requires it.

7. Children

Country Survival Kit is rated for ages 17+ and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children. If you believe a child has used the App in a way that involved personal data, contact us and we’ll investigate.

8. Your rights

Because we do not collect personal information that identifies you, we generally have no personal data to access, correct, or delete in response to a request — with the exception of email correspondence described in Section 6. If you believe we hold information about you and would like to exercise rights under the GDPR (EU/UK), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), or other applicable laws, contact privacy@aillagrid.com and we’ll respond within 30 days.

You have the right to:

  • Request information about any data we hold (in practice: typically only email correspondence, if you’ve written to us).
  • Request deletion of any such data.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Security

We do not store user-identifying data on our servers. Data on your device is protected by iOS’s standard application sandboxing and, where applicable, Apple App Group storage. We use HTTPS for all network requests made by the App.

No system is perfectly secure. If you become aware of a security issue, please email security@aillagrid.com.

10. International users

AillaGrid LLC is registered in the United States. If you use the App from outside the US, the limited data described above may be processed by services (Apple, Frankfurter.app) operating in the US or the EU. This processing happens because it’s necessary to provide the App features you choose to use.

11. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top, post the new version at https://aillagrid.com/privacy, and where appropriate notify users in-app. The updated policy applies from its stated effective date.
